Commercial and Residential Developments
Cominergy provides independent assessments, site inspections and audits for clients looking to optimise water usage, reuse and recycling in their commercial and residential developments.
Cominergy's Reporting Process

Site audits generally start with an assessment of the client’s utility bill to determine the overall average water consumption and costs for six to twelve months.
Assesments
Africa presents a challenge for water and sewage treatment plants. Lack of basic infrastructure for water and power; unreliable service delivery, lack of maintenance or expansion of aging systems; and communities with limited access to grid supply pose difficulties when designing solutions for water and wastewater treatment. In addition, the logistics and costs involved in delivery and installation further aggravate the situation faced by many communities on the continent.
Site Visits
- Counting the number of toilets, showers, and taps.
- Locating any leakages.
- Suggestions for replacing point-of-use fittings.

For boreholes, Cominergy can handle all assessments, surveying, yield testing, drilling, equipping and licensing on the client’s behalf. A breakdown matrix is utilised to determine which areas of the client’s development use the most water as well as where savings can be made. If necessary, water sampling and analysis of existing water sources, such as boreholes, can be taken and investigations into methods of incorporating them to supplement the primary water supply can be performed.
- Back-up water systems.
- Rainwater harvesting.
- Boreholes.

Water usage can be optimised at both the front and back end of the development’s usage chain.
Front-end solutions
- Low-flow and flow-reduction fittings for toilets, taps and showers.
- Harvesting of air conditioner condensation.
- Smart metering for real-time water consumption and leak detection.
- Drip irrigation systems to reduce irrigation water consumption.
Back-end solutions
At the back end of the water system, Cominergy can determine the feasibility of recycling and treatment systems for grey and black water to standards from irrigation to potable; and rainwater harvesting including collection, storage and treatment.
